Updated: Nov 13, 2023

On Sunday 3rd September 2023, the Ayesha Youth Project (AYP) transformed Newham Powerleague into a hub of excitement and sportsmanship as they hosted a thrilling charity 5-a-side football tournament. This event, held right in the heart of Newham, brought together the community in a spectacular display of talent, teamwork, and generosity.

With 12 teams hailing from various corners of Newham, including East Ham, Upton Lane, Plaistow, Forest Gate, Manor Park, and Stratford, the tournament showcased the incredible passion for football that runs through the veins of the local youth. Over 100 enthusiastic participants took to the pitch, each determined to make their mark on the tournament.

While the competition on the field was fierce, the true spirit of the event was captured by the charity aspect. Ayesha Youth Project, known for its dedication to community development, organised this event not only for the love of the game but also to raise funds for a noble cause.

To keep the energy levels high and the spectators satisfied, a BBQ stall was set up, serving delicious lunches and food throughout the tournament. Families and friends gathered to cheer on their favourite teams, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere that only a community event can provide.

The Ayesha Youth Project's charity football tournament was a resounding success, not only in terms of the sporting prowess displayed but also in its ability to bring the local community together. The funds raised during the event will undoubtedly go toward supporting AYP's various community initiatives, further strengthening the bonds of unity and goodwill in Newham. The tournament was won by Shade FC from Manor Park with Upton Lane coming as runners up.
